The final Jackal 3 (High Mobility Transporter Mk3) vehicle on order for the British Army – a six-wheeled Extenda variant – has rolled off Babcock International’s production line in Devonport, Plymouth, the company announced on 13 July 2026.
Babcock has built and delivered 123 Jackal 3 4×4 and Jackal 3 Extenda 6×6 vehicles for the British Army in conjunction with Supacat, which originally designed the vehicle.
“Completion of the programme provides the British Army with one of the most versatile high-mobility weapons platforms in its class, with the Jackal 3 family equally capable of reconnaissance, patrol and logistics tasks,” Babcock stated in a press release. “It also demonstrates a successful collaboration, with our proven relationship with Supacat showcasing how two British brands can design, build and deliver world-class military vehicles for the British Army.”
Major General Lizzie Faithfull-Davies, Director Land Environment for the National Armaments – Material within the National Armaments Director (NAD) Group, was quoted by Babcock as stating, “This marks a significant milestone with the completion of the Jackal 3 (Extenda) platform build programme. Building on the successful delivery of the initial 70 Jackal 3 vehicles, this enhanced capability reflects our continued commitment to providing the army with highly capable, adaptable mobility on operations.”
The total British Army Jackal fleet – comprising the 123 new Jackal 3/Jackal 3 Extenda vehicles plus the legacy fleet of Jackal 1, 2, and 2A vehicles – numbers 639 vehicles, according to a parliamentary answer made on 29 June 2026 by Defence Procurement Minister Luke Pollard, who added that there are also 61 Jackal vehicles in service in the Royal Marines.
