Rheinmetall is supplying the Kuwait Naval Force with Multi Ammunition Softkill Systems (MASS), the company announced on 10 July 2026.
This is the first delivery to Kuwait of the MASS decoy launcher system, which will equip a total of eight Kuwaiti naval vessels. The contract value is in the low-double-digit-million-euro range.
Another component of the contract is the associated OmniTrap ammunition, with a contract value in the high single-digit million-euro range. Integration and verification activities are also part of the contract. The total contract value was booked in the second quarter of 2026, with the delivery period beginning upon receipt of the order in the second quarter of 2026 and ending three years later in the second quarter of 2029.
Rheinmetall will supply MASS as part of the largest shipbuilding programme in Kuwait in over 15 years. Kuwait’s fleet of eight Al Dorra-class guided missile boats, which are currently under construction will be equipped with the MASS system. This class comprises versatile stealth deep-sea patrol vessels. The boats are being built by Abu Dhabi Ship Building: an entity of the United Arab Emirates’ EDGE Group.
In addition to the decoy launchers, the Kuwaiti armed forces have ordered corresponding OmniTrap ER decoy ammunition. This is the new generation with extended range and improved trajectory for the precise use of decoys against state-of-the-art imaging radar- and infrared-guided threats.
